Michael Jordan will discuss finding and using historical sources, the importance of images and graphic design in history books, his experiences finding and negotiating with publishers, and how to avoid a few common pitfalls when writing about history.
Michael Jordan is the author of Hidden History of Civil War Savannah (History Press-2017), Savannah Square by Square (Spanish Moss Publishing/Historic Savannah Foundation- 2015), and Davenport House Museum: Where Savannah’s Preservation Began(Historic Savannah Foundation- 2019). He also authored a chapter of the recently-published archaeological report on the recovery of a Civil War shipwreck in the Savannah River.
Currently, Michael is employed full-time as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Blount Mansion National Historic Landmark, a circa-1792 house museum in downtown Knoxville. You may learn more about Michael and his work at www.michaelljordan.com.
