In this workshop, we will examine the cross-cultural significance of food, sharing community meals, ancestry and the history of colonization, and how our favorite dishes came to be. Food is a tangible historical object, and we will dive deeper into how poets use food as metaphor or conceit in their work. We will discuss poems by Li-Young Lee, Gabrielle Calvocoressi, and others followed by generative writing prompts.
