Expired How to Be a Literary Citizen

Staff from the Sundress Academy for the Arts, including Erin Elizabeth Smith and Chloe Hanson, will talk about how to build a literary community, from constructing workshops to starting a reading series to running a residency to working with other organizations to bridge the arts.

Participants will learn the ins and outs of creating their own literary community — how to market events, how to find other writers, and more. They will also learn more about the importance of literary citizenship to the success of their own writing.

Erin Elizabeth Smith is the Creative Director at the Sundress Academy for the Arts and the Managing Editor of Sundress Publications. Her work has appeared in journals including Guernica, Crab Orchard Review, Ecotone, and Mid-American, and her third full-length collection, Down: The Alice Poems, will be released by Agape Editions in 2019. Smith teaches in the English Department at the University of Tennessee.

The Knoxville Writers’ Guild requests a $2 donation at the door. This helps defray our rent for meeting space and entitles you to drawings for door prizes (when we have them).
