Rhea “RheaSunshine” Carmon will talk about how a poet/writer can use poetry as a form of healing through disease, abuse, and physical trauma. As a MS patient, Rhea has endured physical, mental, and emotional pain. Through the journey, she has found writing and spokenword to be what aids most in the healing of that pain. Rhea will lead you through the process of vomiting your feelings onto the page and then finding the beauty and strength behind the honesty needed to heal your pain.
Rhea Carmon, also known by her stage moniker, Rhea Sunshine, has been writing and performing spoken word poetry and slam for 17 years. Her poems are powerfully motivating with an emphasis on her own personal struggles and how others can overcome. She is the Exective Director of the 5th Woman Stage Presentation (2014 – 2017) and poetry collective, a producer for Carmon Sense Productions, and slam-master for The 5th Woman Poetry Slam. The 5th Woman, her signature work, is an ever evolving poetic installment that has been built by a national involvement of community organizations and poets.
All KWG Workshops are $50 for non-members, $30 for members and $15 for student members.
