Two gifted young musicians and spoken arts performers create a mesmerizing evening of rhythm, visual art, and movement.
Corey Hodge’s debut novel, “As the Sun Smiles,” received the National Indie Excellence Award for African-American Fiction and was a finalist in the 2018 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. A UT honors graduate, teacher and mentor at Christenberry School, founder of a scholarship program for inner-city students, he combines spoken arts and drumming to inspire and move young people, based on his core faith that “Our only limitations are the ones we create.”
Taria Person won 1st place at the regional Big Ears: Spoken Word Expo/The 5th Woman Poetry Slam, the Regional Southern Fried Hip-Hop Slam, and the 2012 Knoxville Poetry Slam. Besides Rainbow Elephant, her work has appeared in multiple anthologies. She has been production stage manager of The Carpetbag Theater, written an original stage play, Hangers, and has been recently commissioned to write a book of poetry by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation.
